Lumberjack, Part 1

It’s no secret that I love knitting socks. They’re the perfect mindless project, small enough that I can take them anywhere, as simple or as complex as I want them to be, and they’re something everyone can use. It was wanting to make my own socks that led me to the world of knitting.

Can you guess where this is going?

So it makes sense that my newest project is another pair of socks, this time for my brother. I’ve had this Knit Picks Stroll Tweed in my stash for ages. I also went stash diving for some leftover white and red yarn to stretch out my yardage – my brother has large feet and I didn’t want to risk running out of yarn so I figured adding some alternate colours will help mitigate that.

I took my inspiration from those classic boot socks you see in all those nostalgic vintage looking photos. For some reason I always associate that style with rugged, outdoorsy types. Something my brother most decidedly is not! Either way, these are going to be some cozy, comfy socks – I’m just working a plain vanilla sock in a 2×2 rib. Looking forward to sharing my progress!
