Rocket Ship Shawlette, Part 4

Well, it’s certainly been a while since I talked about my Rocket Ship Shawlette, hasn’t it? I finished it up about a week ago and I’m so glad it’s done. It’s beautiful but towards the end I hated every. single. minute. of knitting it.

It’s not a bad pattern or anything, far from it, but I was just so ready for it to be over.

I did end up running out of the Stroll Gradient and needing to break into that ball of regular Stroll, but it was very close. I think I ran out on row 36 or 37 of the last chart, and that chart was only 44 rows plus the bind off. But you know what? I really like how that black edging looks. Here it is right off the needles…

And after washing and blocking.

I didn’t plan on blocking it too aggressively since I was pretty pleased with the size of it right off the needles.

But even that light blocking made such a difference in the overall look of the piece. It is a superwash yarn but I treated it like regular wool (that is to say, I soaked it in hot water and wool wash, then pinned it flat to air dry).

Overall I am pleased with this project, but don’t think I’ll be buying this yarn again.
