Rocket Ship Shawlette, Part 4

Well, it’s certainly been a while since I talked about my Rocket Ship Shawlette, hasn’t it? I finished it up about a week ago and I’m so glad it’s done. It’s beautiful but towards the end I hated every. single. minute. of knitting it.

It’s not a bad pattern or anything, far from it, but I was just so ready for it to be over. Continue reading

Rocket Ship Shawlette, Part 3

I have to be totally honest, I’m getting a bit bored with my Rocket Ship Shawlette now. I’m at the point where it’s so wide that each row takes a significant amount of time so it’s not really something I can pick up and put down easily, and the lace charts, while relatively simple as far as lace goes, are just a bit too complicated to work on while watching TV. But I really want this off the needles so I’m just going tot have to force myself to work on this.

I did end up doing an extra repeat of the second chart. It wasn’t until I was about 10 or 12 rows into the third and final chart that I broke into the final colour of the gradient. It’s still difficult to tell if I’m going to have enough yarn or if I will need to use the plain black  yarn for the edging. Time will tell!

Rocket Ship Shawlette, Part 2

My Rocket Ship Shawlette is kitting up pretty quickly, so quickly that I need to make a decision now. I’ve knit two repeats of the second lace chart so, according to the pattern, I should now move on to the third and final chart.Knit Pick Stroll Gradient Fonse Shawlette

As you can see from the picture, I’ve only just broken into the second colour, if I just go ahead with chart third chart I might not even make it to that third colour, the dark grey (I’ve seen a few project photos on Ravelry where that seems to be the case).

Rocket Ship Shawlette, Part 1

I really don’t need any more projects on my needles at the moment but Knit Picks is having their summer sale and I’ve been dying to try out the new Stroll Gradient yarn; I chose the ‘Rocket Ship’ colour way because, well, how could I not? It’s been a long time since I was this excited by the prospect of knitting something new so of course I had to cast on as soon as possible. I chose the Fonsé Shawlette pattern by Joyce Fassbender, which was designed specifically for this yarn.
